A bad, evil hawk has moved into some palm trees my hummingbirds zoom off to sometimes. I fear that he is here to feed on Spring’s Bounty (new hummingbirds). I took pictures of Bad Hawky until he went away, probably to the vile, urine-soaked crag from whence he came. But he’ll be back: my sleek, loyal hummingbirds are too great a prize to ignore. Maybe I shouldn’t interfere, since, you know, it’s all a part of nature, and any hummingbirds I unnaturally save will lose out on those good evolution points.
On the other hand, early humans would never have survived if we didn’t have those tall protection apes looking over us. They used their strength to keep dangerous predators away and left us sweet food, much like the nectar we leave for hummingbirds today. Then, when we were smart enough, we crept up while they were sleeping and murdered them and took their things.
So that’s another way of nature. Wonderful, wonderful nature.
More hummingbird photos.
I am going to do just this. It will be nice to get some more pictures of them in the wild, because soon enough they’ll be flying around my apartment, drinking nectar out of my cupped hand.
