This morning I read Scott Adams’ old dingus of a Dilbert book where he explains some of his favorite strips. A behind the scenes look at the co-creator’s craft! It’s mostly about t-shirts and merchandise, from triumphs (“When I wrote this strip, I thought it was weak. Readers disagreed. It went on to appear on coffee mugs, mouse pads, and T-shirts,”) to failures (“I thought the middle panel above would make a bestselling T-shirt. We tried. It wasn’t,”) to everything in between (“This strip found its way onto a T-shirt.”)
Another thing we read a lot about are the words he uses for sounds:
It must have been a treat to write the book, seeing as how he got to think about “Thip! Crinkle! Spoit!” again. And here is his strip with the most jokes. I believe it would be a strong candidate for a “Great Scott” Award video (or, as most people refer to it, a “Great Scotty”), but the video team at JohnBaileyOwen.com took work off today for “pandemonium-creation.” They are NOT happy about the election. But I am! La la la la la!
