I found this in a 50s compendium of bookplates. When Joan Crawford was filming morale-boosters at the end of World War II she met an Italian guy who had taken some of Mussolini’s stuff after he was deposed and sent to jail by the king and then sprung by the Germans. As a present, he gave her a book on cinema that had been in Mussolini’s library. This was the bookplate she used for the rest of her life.
